I am Marta Kobus. I am the head of engineering at Magnolia, a software company that provides a platform for large scale enterprises such as Atlassian, New York Times and Tesco to build their digital experiences. I've been many years with a company and been a core developer and a tech lead. I think the coolest thing about developing Magnolia is that it's a product that lets others build their own products upon it, so I think we're on this like cool edge of web development where we give like tools and solutions for others to be creative, and we're competing against the serious players in this market. And I think we can be proud of ourselves with what we do. I'm design lead at Magnolia, so everything that is usability, UI, making sure that the user understands what needs to be done, that's what we do. The cool thing about Magnolia is that it's very flexible, meaning there's plenty of things that you can think about, plenty of experiments that you can take, plenty of innovation that comes into it. I have plenty of impact on how the product is going to look like. Mostly, I'm trying to take as much feedback from the customers into the decision process and in the end, come up with something that does make sense for the customer and makes them makes them happy and enjoy using the product. The next big things that we're working on are definitely related to cloud, and to like cool architectural transformations that are aligned with the future of both Magnolia and web development and software engineering in -general. -The amount of autonomy that you have at Magnolia is incredible. The amount of freedom or autonomy to make decisions, to push things forward, to move in between different departments and make connections. There's nobody who's watching you and telling you how things should be done. That is something that most companies don't have. But in Magnolia, it's everything is so fluid and it doesn't matter. As long as we're getting stuff done. Do whatever we all have, like the opportunity to to personally influence the development of the product because we're not so big. And if you have something to bring into the table, you can always do so, and there are people who will receive -it. -I really enjoy that we have this flexibility and that every one of us can contribute directly. So I think we really can influence, -um, you know, the outcomes. -I have really like to work with the best team that I worked with my whole career here in Magnolia. So every day coming to the office feels like, hey, guys, what's gonna happen today? Like, what are we going to think about today and what are we going to build -today? So it's really cool. -I think I have like good personal relationship, like human to human, not as developer to developer. Also, what helps is that we, we, we do get to meet every now and then, uh, in Central Europe or in Spain or, or in other locations. And that also reinforces those connections and those links -between us. -The special thing that you that you do have is really the people. So we enjoy similar things. We enjoy spending time together. We enjoy having a beer together. We don't mingle only on the work level, but we also have some personal experience together. And that's what makes you always want to come back to work in the morning again. There's also this sense of belonging, I think, and it's hard for people to pinpoint what exactly it is, you know, but we somehow, you know, come together as a, I don't know, -a unit, you know. -In those seven years that I've been working here for Magnolia, I think I didn't have a day where I didn't like to work. And I think that's special. I never really had that before. And I just enjoy coming here and working here.
